The fourth generation of LS-ES’s SIS provides several innovative features critical for grid-scale front-of-the-meter, as well as commercial and industrial applications. Advanced LS-ES software intelligently cycles multiple AiON-SIS inverters to increase inverter life, and can also manage power delivery to maximize inverter efficiency and minimize losses. The AiON-SIS comes equipped with grid-forming capabilities, which enable use in microgrid applications and seamless transfer from grid-tied to grid-forming mode. If the utility grid fails, this grid-forming feature gives the AiON-SIS the ability to become the reference frequency and voltage to form a microgrid. By leveraging the AiON-SIS, commercial and industrial users can essentially form a behind-the-meter microgrid with their energy storage system.

The AiON-SIS features optimal power ratings to fit most battery manufacturers’ energy per rack configurations. Power ratings range from 150kVA to 200kVA, depending on desired AC output voltage. Up to 16 AiON-SIS devices can be paralleled on both the AC and DC sides to deliver up to 3.2MVA, making it easy to optimize and right-size inverter power needs for a specific project.

In developing the fourth-generation String Inverter System, LS-ES combined the traditional benefits of string inverters with over a decade of energy storage innovation. The compact size and easy configurability of the AiON-SIS provide users with the expected string inverter right-sizing flexibility, industry-leading power density, and fast on-site change out.

The AiON-SIS complements any number of energy storage systems, including its integration in the recently announced LS-ES AiON all-in-one energy storage system.
